HEADLINE: Full Tilt Poker Tournaments Now Available 'On Demand'
Body:
Full Tilt Poker’s latest software update included many new features for the popular online poker site, including the introduction of what are being called “On Demand” tournaments.
On Demand tournaments will work similarly to sit-and-go tournaments, but feature the flexibility of standard scheduled multi-table events. Like a regular SNG, an On Demand tournament begins when a predetermined number of players register for a given event. However, once the tournament begins, it will remain open for late registration – allowing additional players to take part in the event. This allows SNG players to have predictability for when tournaments will go off, but allows MTT players to join in as they would in a scheduled tournament.
At the moment, On Demand tournaments are only getting a limited test run on the site. Several $2 SNGs have been converted to the On Demand format; depending on their popularity, more tournaments might take on that format at a later date.
Along with the new tournament type, the software update also added or tweaked other features as well. For instance, players can now calibrate their in game clock to their time zones. Tournament players may also enjoy the fact that SNGs will always have an empty tournament available, meaning that mutlitablers will immediately be able to join as many games as they like. In addition, tournament players can now make purchasing add-ons an automated process. For players with Internet connection issues, the new policy of automatically putting players back into their tournament seats upon reconnection will be a nice touch as well.
Cash players will also see some new additions to the site. Two new mixed game formats have been added; “Eight-Game” takes the Seven-Game lineup and adds Triple Draw to the mix, while “Nine-Game” allows players to play all of the games in Ten-Game except for Badugi. Cash game players will also now have the option to disable tournament announcements from interrupting their games, which has long been a thorn in the side for many players.
