HEADLINE: Lady Gaga leads UK singles chart

New York pop star Lady GaGa has secured a second week at number one in the UK with her debut single Just Dance.

The singer, who starts a UK tour with the Pussycat Dolls on Sunday, also scored a new entry with album track and future single Poker Face at 30.

Her album, The Fame, was the highest new entry on the album chart, at three.

She was pipped to the post by Dublin rock group The Script, who reclaimed the top spot from Kings Of Leon, whose Only By The Night dropped to two.

James Morrison was at four with Songs For You, Truths For Me, while Duffy's Rockferry dropped two places to five.

New entries in the album chart included Roger Whittaker, whose greatest hits collection The Golden Age was at 16.

Avant-garde rock group Animal Collective landed at 26 with their critically-acclaimed album Merriweather Post Pavillion.

Back in the singles chart, rap star Kid Cudi scored the highest new entry at number two with heartbreak tale Day 'N' Nite.

James Morrison and Nelly Furtado's duet Broken Strings dropped to three in its eleventh week on the chart.

Girl group The Saturdays rose two places to four with their ballad, Issues, while Kevin Rudolf's Let It Rock jumped from 10 to five.

Meanwhile, Girls Aloud defied speculation that they would miss out on the top 10 for the first time in their career as their current hit The Loving Kind rose from 29 to 10.

Sales of the band's 20th single have been hampered by the continued success of their previous record, The Promise, which is still in the top 40 three months after it was released.

New entries in the top 40 came from hotly-tipped London rockers White Lies, who debuted at 35 with To Lose My Life and American Idol alumnus Jordin Sparks, at 38 with One Step At A Time.
