HEADLINE: Poker Madness Continues at 2007 WSOP
Body:
Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi is one of many in the
field of the $1,000 No-Limit
Hold’em with Rebuys event at the 2007 World Series of
Poker.
Day 5 of the 2007 World Series of Poker is underway with one
of the most interesting events as far as table action goes. The
$1,000 No-Limit with Rebuys always attracts pros with deep pockets
looking to outlast their “poorer” table mates.
It’s not unusual to see players go “blind”
all-in looking to double-up, knowing that they can rebuy. In years
past, one could walk into the poker room and hear a chorus of
dealers yelling “rebuy” from all corners of the room.
The rebuy chips that players purchase in advance have eliminated
this echo of the past but will most likely not hamper Daniel “Kid
Poker” Negreanu in the slightest. He rebought an astounding
48 times last year.
On a quick lap around the floor we caught a glimpse of quite
a few big names including Phil Ivey, Michael “The Grinder”
Mizrachi, Isaac Haxton, Freddy Deeb, Barry Greenstein, Chad Brown
and Greg Raymer.
Other notes from the floor:
- Jean Robert Ballande was seen wearing a World Poker Tour t-shirt,
which is an interesting choice for a televised World Series Of
Poker event.
- Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul and Sorel “imper1um”
Mizzi are seated at the same table. No word on if they have recognized
each other without the benefit of avatars.
- Like we told you, Bodog
pro Josh Arieh is back at the poker tables just over 12 hours
after ending his day in the $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud event.
- Two 2006 Team Bodog
members are in the crowd. Leif Force won $1,154,527 for an 11th
place finish at the Main Event last year. Hopefully, he won’t
burn through whatever is left in rebuy tournaments (we saw him
in the $5,000 Omaha
rebuy event yesterday). Ethan Foulkes qualified through Bodog
and parlayed his entry into $2,296 for a 256th place finish in
a $1,500 No-Limit tourney last year.
- Shannon Elizabeth is here again, fulfilling her commitment
to play every event possible, and like some sort of poker Baywatch
babe was seen running through the room headed to the ATM to get
more cash for rebuys. It was definitely slow-motion in our minds
(can’t you just hear it, “I’ll be ready. Never
you fear”).
Anyway, stay tuned for more live updates from the 2007 World
Series of Poker.
