HEADLINE: Daniel Negreanu is the Newest Poker
Star at Team PokerStars
Body:
PokerStars
added another huge name in professional poker to its site, as
it announced that Daniel Negreanu has signed as the newest member
of Team PokerStars.com.
"I've enjoyed a long personal relationship with the folks
at PokerStars
since the company's founding in 2001 and have always felt as though
PokerStars fully understood what players wanted: lots of tournaments,
lots of variety, and great software,'' Negreanu said in a press
release. "I'm very excited about joining Team PokerStars.
The organization seems like the perfect fit for me and I'm glad
they feel the same way."
Negreanu has joined 18 other players, including three of the
last four World Series of Poker champions: Greg "Fossilman"
Raymer, Joe Hachem, and Chris Moneymaker, as well as former WSOP
champ Tom McEvoy, top charitable contributor Barry "Robin
Hood" Greenstein, Isabelle Mercier AKA "No Mercy",
Katja "Miss Slick" Thater, Humberto Brenes, Steve Paul-Ambrose,
Vanessa "Lady Maverick" Rousso, Luca Pagano to name
but a few.
A native of Toronto Canada, now living in Las Vegas Nevada, Negreanu
early recognized he had a knack for gambling and specifically
for poker. Negreanu took the world of tournament poker
by storm and never looked back with two first place finishes at
the 1997 World Poker Finals at Foxwoods.
He has since added three World Series of Poker bracelets, two
World Poker Tour titles, and more than thirty victories in tournaments
across the globe (click here for his profile).
The deal is the third online poker site endorsement deal for
Negreanu, having worked with Poker Mountain, then FullContactPoker
(FCP), which he sold the marketing and business management duties
to Big Stack Enterprises based in Curacao.
"Daniel embodies what poker and Poker
Stars are all about: enjoying the excitement and the challenge
of poker" says Barry Greenstein, long time colleague and
now team mate of Negreanu.
Devotees of Full Contact Poker will be pleased to hear that they
too are welcome to join PokerStars,
says Greenstein; "Daniel is a true ambassador of the sport
and we welcome him to the Team as well as all of his players and
fans from Full Contact Poker. We know they will enjoy the PokerStars
experience."
At the press conference held yesterday, it was announced that
all players at FCP will have their accounts transfered to PokerStars.
If FCP players do not have a PokerStars account, they will receive
an email explaining to them how to open one and have their dollars
transferred. FCP will not cease to exist, but it will no longer
offer live poker.
