HEADLINE: Full Tilt Poker Denies Claims Made
by Rival
Body:
It was a heated tournament but not among the players, rather the
sponsors.
It began with allegations lodged by Poker.com through their PR
agency that Full
Tilt Poker had "breached online gambling laws",
something Full
Tilt and its legal counsel vehemently denied Thursday evening.
According to a representative of Codeworx to make the approved
list for the Aussie Millions Tournament, there had to be absolutely
no access to online gaming from the URL that is shown.
"According to the Fox Sports floor manager, these sites
went through a stringent approval process and passed," the
rep points out.
In his email to Gambling911.com, the representative suggests
that a "quick check shows that Full
Tilt is in fact breeching the law".
He went on to point out that if you type in www.fulltiltpoker.net
it takes you directly to their pay poker site.
"Not true!" says Full
Tilt's legal counsel. He further goes on to state that under
no circumstances is Full
Tilt violating any policies.
A quick check from here shows that Full Tilt is in fact breeching
the law.
"Full Tilt Poker.Net – a global company -- has reached
various agreements with numerous United States as well as non-US
business partners," their legal advisor, Ian J. Imrich, points
out.
"Pursuant to and in accordance with the variety of agreements
involved, my client’s dot net site, when accessed within
the United States, does not link to any real money gaming site,
including, but not limited to, FullTiltPoker.com.
This has been the state of affairs from commencement of applicable
business relationships and is in full compliance with those agreements
entered into between my client and those business partners within
the United States which do require that such “dot net to
dot com” linkage not occur.
"However, many of my client’s non-US business agreements
do not have such a linkage prohibition nor requirement. For example,
the Crown Casino strategic partnership does not require that Full
Tilt Poker.Net have no links to Full
Tilt Poker.Com.
"The Crown Casino (hosting Aussie Millions) is not subject
to US law in this regard and my client’s agreements with
the Crown Casino comply with applicable law in Australia.
"Based upon my inquiry thus far, my client is in full compliance
with its respective legal obligations vis-à-vis the Crown
Casino. Moreover, my client is in complete compliance with its
respective strategic partnerships within and without the United
States."
