HEADLINE: Poker Sites Allowing US Players But
For How Long?
Body:
The handful of poker sites allowing
US players to play
for real money question how much longer their US friends will
be able to play. Regulations rumored to go up to or past the deadline
of July according to Compatible Poker.
In a recent post by Compatible Poker who is monitoring
the US
poker site situation Compatible Poker mentioned that
some US
poker players may have longer than expected before banks close
down to online gamblers.
In an article done by Russ Fox for Gamblinglawus it was stated
that banks may not regulate gambling transactions until July or
even after. July is the last of the 270 period starting from when
the President signed the bill on October 13, 2006. The 9 month
period was formulated to develop a plan and enact regulation to
ban gambling transactions in the US.
According to the article blogged by Compatible Poker,
Fox speaks about how regulations must be submitted, approved and
all sorts of revisions before the law comes to be. Fox also said
there are some statues that have been working under temporary
regulations for over 20 years.
On the other hand many insider rumors have said they expect to
see regulations to set during February. There has been no evidence
to support or back up these claims and many of the people setting
these rumors are going on hunches.
The closing of Pinnacle Sports last week scared many online
poker players into thinking, "Is PokerStars next".
Poker Stars along with Full
Tilt Poker are the largest sites accepting US
players and this out of the blue closing of Pinnancle Sports
and Casino had some worried that the end was near, for US gamblers
at least.
It has now been exactly 3 months since President Bush signed
the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The poker
sites and casinos accepting
US players have continued business as usual and Compatible
Poker expects to see only minor changes happen in the next
few weeks.

online poker and casino news will continue to be tracked at
