Author: Kevin May
Body:
Future Publishing has finally revealed details of its widely
rumoured plans for a new poker title to tap into the growing gambling
market.
World Poker Tour: The Official Magazine will be the first magazine
sanctioned by the World Poker Tour brand, which has built a major
following in recent months in the UK after securing a high profile
slot on the newly launched ITV4 digital channel.
The magazine will launch in February 2005 and join Future's Online
Gambling magazine, a monthly title distributed to 350,000 readers
of the publisher's technology titles.
Each month World Poker Tour will include a focus on the personalities
on the programme and poker tips written by the WPT Academy.
Dom Beaven, publishing director of World Poker Tour: The Official
Magazine, said: "They don't come any bigger than World Poker
Tour in the world of poker, and working with WPT Enterprises on
this official tour magazine is a major initiative for Future.
"With total access to the biggest tournaments and best-known
players – the official magazine will bring an insider's
view of the Tour to poker enthusiasts and give them the tools
to perfect their own game right from the pros they see on the
WPT TV show."
The show has already made stars of players such as Daniel Negreanu
and Gus Hansen since it launched with what has become an annual
prize fund of $100,000.
Steve Lipscomb, chief executive of WPT Enterprises, said: "World
Poker Tour is the global leader in poker and we have big plans
for 2006 in the UK.
"Future's official title will bring all the thrills of our
Tour to the UK's ever growing community of poker
players."
