EDUTAINMENT press release of the summer, winning
by some margin our prestigious Golden Cobblers award, arrives
from Victor Chandler Poker (vcpoker.com) - who entirely incidentally
power the superb online poker room at racingpostgaming.com.
The VC e-boffins have been grilling their
customers on the subject of poker 'tells' - the body language
that betrays what sort of hand you hold, and whether you're bluffing
or not.
The mentally nimble among you won't have to
have re-read that sentence more than a couple of times before
spotting that, it being online
poker and all, you can't actually see your opponents,
or be seen by them. It's at least part of the reason why, according
to netprophet's own scientific survey, 24 per cent of all online
poker players will use some form of makeshift chamber pot during
heads-up no-limit tournament play.
But, says the VC study (vcpoker.com/news),
a wealth of revelations are contained simply in the manner in
which you click your mouse.
'A very fast check can indicate a weak hand,'
they've discovered, but, 'A pause followed by a check can often
indicate weakness.'So, scientifically speaking, if you've got
a weak hand, or want to pretend you've got a weak hand - or want
to pretend that you're pretending to have a weak hand, you rogue!
- then you should, er. . . . no, you've lost me.
