Poker Lesson: Short Stack Play
Author: Andy Bloch
What is a short stack? Well, most players would consider a stack of ten big blinds or less to be a short stack in a tournament. At this point, you’ll either be folding or going all in pre-flop, because you simply can’t afford to make a small raise and have someone come over the top with a stronger hand.
But what happens if you have something like 13 or 14 big blinds? This is where things get complicated. Watch the video above for advice from Team Full Tilt’s Andy Bloch on how best to play a short stack in a tournament.
