HEADLINE: Phil Ivey Becomes a Target Next Week at Aria Casino Poker Room
Body:
While famed poker player Phil Ivey is considered by many to be the best poker player in the game today, the seven-time WSOP bracelet winner becomes the hunted, not the hunter, during next week’s invitational poker tournament at the newly dedicated Phil Ivey Room at the Aria at City Center in Las Vegas. In a cruel turn of events, the Aria has decided to christen its new poker room by holding a high-stakes tourney… and offering a bounty on the head of the room’s namesake!
At only 34, Ivey has achieved near legendary status in the game of poker. Youngest seven-time WSOP bracelet winner, fastest to seven bracelets, all-time leader in career earnings, and a reputation as the best player in the game today. Despite all of the accolades, Ivey’s fame won’t help him when he is faced with the burden of carrying a $100,000 bounty on his head.
The invitational tournament honoring the creation of the high-stakes Phil Ivey Room will be played just ahead of the World Series of Poker on May 22nd. First prize for the tournament will be an attractive $250,000, with an additional $100K going to the player who claims Ivey’s bounty. In addition to the prize for first place, the winner will have the opportunity to go heads-up with Ivey immediately after the tournament for another $250,000.
While tournament officials haven’t announced what they will do if Ivey wins, it is certain that the other players will do their best to spoil his day and haul away the big money.
