Announces Betting Odds For 2007 World Series of Poker
Body:
Poker’s biggest event, the 2007 World Series of Poker, gets
underway in Las Vegas on June 1, and the Bodog.com Sportsbook
is ready for the action with a variety of wagers, including bets
on bracelet races and several Main Event "last longer"
props that pit countrymen, family members and even the "Phils"
against each other.
For the 38th edition of the WSOP, a total of 55 bracelet events
will be offered - an increase from last year’s 46 - and
while most players are aching just to win their first, Doyle Brunson,
Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan are each hoping to stand alone atop
the bracelet count by winning a record 11th title this year. Will
it be the legendary Texas Dolly who first turns it up to 11 or
does Chan have a plan to be the first over the decade mark? Bodog.com
bookmakers think otherwise, picking Hellmuth as the favorite at
9/5 odds.
While Brunson, Chan and Hellmuth have all built their reputations
in brick and mortar events, a slew of young players have been
making a name for themselves on the Internet, and will set out
to prove once again they’re among the best at this year’s
WSOP. Will it be Alan "BodogAri" Engel who tops the
online class in the Main Event or will Cliff "JohnnyBax"
Josephy, who won a bracelet last year, be the one who outlasts
the field of ranked Internet guns, including Shane "Shaniac"
Schleger, Eric "Rizen" Lynch and Kevin "BeL0WaB0Ve"
Saul? Bodog
sees the group as equals, listing the entire field at 3/1.
Among the more interesting "last longer" wagers posted
is a Main Event showdown between Canadian players Gavin Smith,
Brad Booth and Daniel Negreanu. Bodog.com bookmakers see it as
a toss up between Negreanu and Smith, giving both 6/5 odds to
outlast their countrymen from the Great White North, while "Yukon"
Booth is just behind the two at 3/2.
For some WSOP participants, it’s a family affair, and Bodog.com
is letting you pick which pairing will win the most in this year’s
Main Event. Will it be the father-son team of Doyle and Todd Brunson
or will Annie Duke and her brother Howard Lederer walk away with
the biggest combined cash? At 5/2, husband and wife team, Jennifer
Harman and Marco Traniello, just might show they’re a marital
match made in poker heaven, while Barry Greenstein and his son
Joe Sebok are given the edge by bookmakers at 3/2.
Other groups paired for "last longer" wagers include
past Main Event champions, past Main Event runner-up finishers,
former CardPlayer Player of the Year winners, female poker
players and the battle of the "Phils," with Ivey listed
at -140 and Hellmuth at even-money.
Also listed are WSOP props asking which member of Team Bodog
(Josh Arieh, David Williams, Evelyn Ng) will win a bracelet at
the 2007 WSOP, what color will the cards of the Main Event winning
hand be and will any player this year win two or more bracelets.
The odds look good on the latter considering two players each
won two bracelets at last year’s WSOP, and going back to
2000, at least one person has achieved the two-bracelets or more
feat each year, including in 2003 when a total of five players
won two or more bracelets.
Get these an many other 2007 WSOP props in the Bodog
Sportsbook.
